LEXINGTON, KY – As residents clean up from the devastating floods in
Eastern Kentucky , the American Red Cross continues to increase its operations. An estimated 100 Red Cross staff members from over a dozen states are expected to arrive before nightfall on Friday.
Red Cross staff continue to meet immediate relief needs such as food, shelter, emergency medical care, water, and damage assessments. Case workers are now going door to door to assess client’s needs. “Now that all the damage assessments have been completed and the situation has stabilized, we’re able to reach out to individual clients to determine their immediate disaster related needs,” said Alice Ferrell case work manager.

When asked how long the Red Cross response is likely to continue job manager Janine Brown stated; “we will be here until all immediate emergency needs caused by this disaster are met.”
