In January 2009, the Bluegrass Chapter was awarded at disaster capacity building grant from the WalMart Foundation.  The Bluegrass Chapter was one of 128 Chapters nationwide selected for a grant, and one of only three recipients in Kentucky.  More than 500 Red Cross Chapters applied for funding.

This grant supports the purchase of essential shelter items, such as cots and blankets, and also funds volunteer disaster training.  The  Bluegrass Chapter gratefully acknowledges the WalMart Foundation's generosity.
