In an effort to sustain and improve our programs and services, the Bluegrass Area Chapter of the American Red Cross is launching the Heroes Campaign. The Heroes Campaign is a community awareness and fundraising drive aimed at educating our constituents about the programs and services offered by the American Red Cross and generating new streams of revenue.

As part of a campaign committee led by a chair, fundraising captains each commit to raising a minimum of $3,000. Initially we are asking our captains to make a $1,000 ask from individuals or organizations. Obviously, we will not turn down donations of any size. Our goal for Bourbon County is $20,000.

All donors will be recognized for their contribution to the American Red Cross. Additionally, individuals or organizations that donate or collectively raise a minimum of $1,000 will be acknowledged as members of the American Red Cross’ Clara Barton Society and eligible to nominate a person for the Red Cross "Hero of the Year". In addition, $1,000 donors and a guest, along with "Hero of the Year" nominees and a guest, will receive complimentary admission to the Red Cross "Hero of the Year" celebration event.

The "Hero of the Year" program is intended to recognize individuals who have made a significant, positive impact in our community. Those individuals who are nominated for this award will be recognized at our campaign celebration event where one nominee will be named "Hero of the Year." The award finalists and the "Hero of the Year" will be chosen by a selections committee. This nomination and selection process is an excellent opportunity to honor those individuals in our community who help others and make a difference.
